The characters in the story are seen sleeping and getting up with make-up on. That's right, the people in the show have to look pretty even when they are sleeping. Some of them even throw in expensive clothes and jewelry while they are at it.

It is interesting how the directors, actors, producers, spot boys, chai-wallas or anyone else don't ever notice this. The characters are also often seen leaving tear trails on their smooth cheeks after they cry themselves to sleep. You can see the trajectory of the tears perfectly, as if a man abandoned on an island is leaving footprints on the beach. The next day, when they wake up, those trails will be magically washed off as if by waves from the ocean.

Popularized by Ekta Kapoor daily soaps, this trope has been used far and wide. You can find traces of it even in old shows like Mahabharat, Chandrakanta and Damini.
