| A close shave. I was just about to hurt Indian sentiments. |
Indian sentiments are the most fragile things in this universe. So to stop them from falling and shattering to pieces, Bollywood has a few tricks up its sleeve. Like the Kissing Backhead Shot. When there is an imminent kissing scene, the actors come close and just before their lips touch, the male actor engulfs her face with a twist and covers it with the back of his head.
It is like batman putting his cape over the mouth to cover his bad-breath.
OK. No.
He does it to "camouflage" himself and look cool in the process. Similarly, when an Indian male actor desperately wants to kiss a female actor, he turns his head tactfully at the right moment to cover the kiss. Thus getting the film a green flag from the censor board. After the back of the head is shown, usually the shot fades to a burning candle, a scene of the mountains with fluttering butterflies or a bright red rose.

Unless you're Aishwarya Rai kissing Chandrachur Singh. In which case, you do the backhead shot to avoid kissing him.
ReplyDeleteHahaha if Anonymous is who I think it is, this is why I love you, baby. Poor Chandrachur. His parents never even gave him a chance with a name like that.
